Women of Jannah

Hadith:

Reported Abu Huraira-

Angel Gabriel came to Allah’s Apostle (as he frequently did) and said: Allah’s Messenger, lo; Khadija is coming to you with a tray of food and drink. When she comes to you, offer her greetings from her Lord, the Exalted and Glorious, and from me, and give her glad tidings of a palace of jewels in Paradise (Heaven), wherein there is no noise and no toil.

commentary: Khadija (may Allah be pleased with her) was Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) wife, and the first person to accept Islam.

After prophet Muhammad was visited by Gabriel for the first time, he felt frightened, and out of sorts-but Khadija assured him with the words; “Do not worry, for by Him who has dominion over my soul, I hope that you are the Prophet of this nation. Allah would never humiliate you, for you are good to your relatives, you are true to your word, you help those who are in need, you support the weak, you feed the guest, and you answer the call of those who are in distress,” (hadithoftheday.com).

Once the prophethood of Muhammad (p.b.u.h) was established, Khadija, being a wealthy woman, financially supported the cause of her husband’s mission, wholeheartedly-she gave all she had to help foster Islam, and hold up the Muslim community, especially against the persecution of the opponents of the message of Islam (the Meccan pagans, namely).

More importantly, Khadija gave the prophet emotional and moral support. After Khadija passed away, Aisha, prophet Muhammad’s third wife, would grow jealous whenever she would hear the prophet speak of Khadijah, or see him sending food to Khadijah’s old friends and relatives, out of persistent love for his deceased spouse. Once, Aisha asked Muhammad (peace be upon him) if Khadijah had been the only woman worthy of his love. The prophet p.b.u.h. replied: “She believed in me when no one else did; she accepted Islam when people rejected me; and she helped and comforted me when there was no one else to lend me a helping hand,” (hadithoftheday.com).

“Some interpret the aforementioned hadith about Khadija’s promised palace in Jannah (specifically the detail of it having ‘no noise and no toil’) as a reward and reciprocality for the calm and tranquil environment that she herself constantly generated for her husband (prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him)”. Hadith

Once, a man asked the prophet for permission to go with him on a military expedition. The prophet asked the man if he had a mother, to which the man replied; “yes.” Prophet Muhammad advised him; “Stay with her, because Paradise (Jannah) lies at her feet”. (related by Ahmad and Al-Nasai)

Hadith

The prophet (peace be upon him) said: “If a woman prays her five daily prayers, fasts Ramadan, guards her honor and chastity, and obeys her husband, then she may enter Jannah through whichever one of its gates she pleases. [Sahih Ibn Hibban]

Quranic Verse

For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah’s praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward (Jannah).”
