This drawing draws its inspiration from the Islamic belief of Allah’s eternal existence. Specifically, the belief that He never dies–He is All-Living (which goes hand-in-hand with the belief that He had no beginning). The drawing depicts dead flowers, and around some of the flowers are the Qur’anic/Islamic verses (written in Arabic); “rely upon the Living, Who never dies” (written right-hand side), and “Everything on the earth will perish, and there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor” (on the left-hand side). (While the flowers died, and while you and I will die, Allah s.w.t. never dies…). (the latter quote is from the Qur’an, 55:26-27).

This sketch is of a Muslim lady travelling to Jannah. Though the road and every footstep she should take is paved right in front of her, it’s really hard to travel down the road. As it is for everybody who’s making this journey. It’s not an easy journey…but Allah s.w.t. is there to help (and what a best Helper; hasbee Allahu wa n’im al Wakeel…n’im al mawla wa n’im al Naseer. Allah is enough for me, and what an excellent Disposer of Affairs…what an excellent Patron, and what an excellent Protector.”  🙂 ❤
–When seeing all the easier routes at her disposal, the Muslima thinks “Ya Hadi, ahdinee…” (“O Guider, guide me…”).

This Arabic word (of which the transliteration to English would be “as-Salaam”) means “peace.” In Islamic culture, the word “as-Salaam” can refer to Allah s.w.t., as He is believed to be the Source of Peace..This latter definition is the one I had in mind, in creating this painting.
